It is with great pleasure that we are pioneering the maiden issue of International Journal of Dental and Medical Specialty (IJDMS), a new specialty oriented and blind peer-reviewed professional journal to the national as well as the international community of practicing physicians and research scholars both in dental as well as various medical specialties. IJDMS has been created to become a journal of choice for excellent student as well as faculty-led research work. We, therefore, aim for IJDMS to become one of the leading online forums for globally spreading outstanding research and encourage dedicated research scholars to engage with, and be inspired by outstanding peer-led research, ultimately enhancing their academic standing. The conceptualization of this journal was not done overnight, but following relentless consultations and discussions on whether or not the new journal should be a specialty-specific one. It was finally decided to make the journal a quality type that can and will satisfactorily accommodate research manuscripts from the entire wide spectrum of medicine as a whole, whether dental or any other medical specialty.
We hope this achievement of ours becomes a milestone and serves as further encouragement for enhanced research by investigators while appealing to the wider regional and international community for quality manuscripts. The journal expects to serve as an impetus for national and international researchers in all specialties of dental and medical sciences. The journal will certainly find its proper niche in the forest of excellent journals related to both Dental and Medical Sciences that are being published throughout the world today.
The journal will have free online access, ultimately being committed to open-access publishing philosophy. Publishing this journal would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of the working committee, the Editorial Board and a host of national and international consultants and advisers. With sincere appreciation, I want to thank all the people involved in this endeavor of mine. Without their dedicated efforts, this dream of mine would have never come true. The services of a reputed international publishing house have been obtained for the publication of the journal, and it will be published on a quarterly basis. An excellent quality of production is, therefore, assured.

With the commencement of this issue we would also like to commemorate a day, i.e. “The World Civilization Day” as with so much terrorism, crime, killings, etc. happening around us, it is time to wake up and join our hands together to make a Global Call for all.
